Healthy Country
We are partnering with Queensland Government’s Department of Natural Resources and Water, Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, Environmental Protection Agency (Qld) and the Healthy Waterways Partnership on a demonstration project to identify ways to reduce non-urban diffuse sediment runoff and pollutant loads entering Moreton Bay.
The principal objective of the Healthy Country Project is to demonstrate that measurable reductions in sediments and nutrients reaching waterways can be achieved through communities and governments working together to apply the best available scientific advice.
Project activities include a communications and eduction program, Traditional Owner participation, a science component encompassing planning, monitoring and evaluation, waterway restoration in the Logan, Bremer and Lockyer catchments as well as provision of advice to landholders on Best Management Practices and field trials of improved farming techniques.
