SEQ Catchments partner with a number of Queensland Government departments to identify natural resource management priorities, secure funding for on-ground works and to support and facilitate delivery of the SEQ NRM Plan 2009 – 2031. We also assist the Queensland Government to deliver a number of its community based programs to improve the condition and trend of the State’s natural resources and environmental outcomes. The Australian Government has identified 56 catchment regions covering all Australia, and supports Natural Resource Management (NRM) bodies in each of these regions to prepare and implement integrated resource management plans and regularly define and review priorities. In Queensland, these NRM bodies are community owned, not for profit organisations.
SEQ Catchments is the NRM body for South East Queensland, and plays a central role in promoting the value of local knowledge and participation in NRM planning, securing appropriate funding support for on-ground works to deliver NRM targets, as well as supporting its community base to achieve NRM and environmental outcomes.
