SEQ Catchments 2011 AGM
30-Nov-2011
SEQ Catchments and the SEQ Catchments Member Association (SEQCMA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday 25th November at the Park Regis Hotel in Brisbane.
Gordon French addressed the SEQCMA AGM for the last time as chair of SEQCMA and presented its annual report. SEQ Catchments CEO, Simon Warner, and Chair, Robert Smith, presented the SEQ Catchments 2011 annual report and reviewed the achievements over the past year in light of some very challenging circumstances experienced by the January 2011 floods.
SEQ Catchments were very privileged to have the Honourable Rachel Nolan, Minister for Finance, Natural Resources and the Arts, as a guest speaker to address attendees. She praised SEQ Catchments for their work and crucial involvement in the 2011 flood response and in particular emphasised the importance of ‘community partnerships’ and the role Natural Resource Management Groups (NRM) groups such as SEQ Catchments have as ‘community based drivers’ of leaders in NRM.
She went on to talk about a project dear to her heart, namely the recent announcement to secure the long-term protection of the Karawatha-Greenbank-Flinders Peak Corridor, for which SEQ Catchments is helping facilitate the community consultation process.
