The South East Queensland (SEQ) Ecosystem Services Project was initiated in 2005 as a collaborative project between SEQ Catchments, the Queensland Government and the University of Sunshine Coast.

The main aim of the Project was to develop an 'agreed' framework for assessing the ecosystem services derived from the SEQ region (the SEQ Ecosystem Services Framework); and to incorporate this information into natural resource management, policy and planning.

To date, the focus of the Project has been to identify, measure and value the ecosystem services derived from SEQ.
The SEQ Ecosystem Services Framework is based on the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment established by United Nations Environment Programme.

SEQ Ecosystem Services Framework has been included as a recommended program for achieving principles and policies in two desired regional outcomes in the SEQ Regional Plan 2009-2031.

For more information about the framework and how it is being used visit the SEQ Ecosystem Services Framework website.
