SEQ Catchments Sustainable ProductionSEQ Catchments Sustainable Production at Hampton

Through partnership with industry, local government and landholders and corporate organisations, SEQ Catchments works with land managers to implement sustainable management practices though training and implementation of on ground works in relation to agricultural production

We concentrate on the delivery of primary industry recognised sustainable management practices. These practices include but are not limited to:

  • Grazing Land Management.
  • Fire Management
  • Native Forest Management
  • Weed and pest management
  • Hillslope and Alluvial Plain management

Recognised sustainable management practices can be achieved on a whole of property scale, sub catchment scale or on a regional basis.

SEQ Catchments focuses on achieving the adoption of sustainable land management on an industry basis through Industry partnerships. Key industries in SEQ include grazing, horticulture, sugarcane, turf and dairying.

Property Management Planning (PMP) is a valuable tool to the adoption of sustainable land management practices. PMP integrates bio-physical, ecological, economic and social perspectives and enables landholders to produce a whole of property plan which considers natural resources as the base for planning infrastructure and management actions. PMP is tailored to include a number of industries Best Management Practice; for example PMP workshops delivered as part of the Sustainable Grazing Project are focused on the specific needs of the livestock industry.

Fire Management Planning is also a valuable tool that SEQ Catchments has successfully used across SEQ in partnership with Fabcon, Corporate organisations and the community. Effective fire management is necessary to manage vegetation and ensure appropriate groundcover protects our soils from erosion forces. Land managers are encouraged to participate in SEQ Catchments Fire Management Planning on a property and sub catchment scale.
