Queensland Government

The Queensland Government is a key policy and planning, funding and on ground delivery partner for SEQ Catchments. We partner with a number of Queensland Government departments to identify NRM priorities, secure funding for on-ground works and to support and facilitate delivery of the SEQ NRM Plan 2009 – 2031.

Our Queensland Government partners are:

Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation

The Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) collaborates with local, Federal and State agencies to address major obstacles in areas such as land use, infrastructure and complex legislation; while meeting community expectations to protect individual rights and the environment. DEEDI partners with SEQ Catchments in the delivery of some on-ground projects and specifically assists with the training of landholders in grazing land management.

Department of Environment and Resource Management

The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) conserves, protects and manages the state’s environment and natural resources for today and for future generations. SQE Catchments works with DERM as a lead agency for the implementation of the SEQ NRM Plan 2009 -2031.

Department of Local Government and Planning

The Department of Local Government and Planning (DLGP) works closely with local governments and leads a coordinated Queensland Government approach to growth management, planning and development across the state. SEQ Catchments is assisting the (DLGP) with mapping needs for the Queensland Greenspace strategy.

Q2 Coasts and Country

The Q2 Coasts and Country program is addressing biodiversity, wetlands, water quality, coastal risk, sustainable agriculture and weeds and pest management. This will support the sustainable management of natural resources and help protect significant natural assets. SEQ Catchments works specifically with the Q2 Coasts and Country program in areas of regional planning, ecosystems services, the Back on Track Species Prioritisation Framework and Water Quality Monitoring.
